Taking Off In Style

 The closest thing we have to a flying car nowadays is the Blackfly. While it is the closest thing we have to a flying car it does still look like something you would see in a Hollywood movie. Its somewhere between a helicopter a plane and a car all rolled into one. It has the wings of a plane but still uses rotors like a helicopter, and the main purpose of this design is to be able to take off and land without a runway. The dream behind this vehicle is to "Free the world from traffic." Said Sebastian Thrun one of the engineers behind this vehicle.

There has been some argument as some people think that these flying cars should be pilotless, and while the idea is technically possible they are saying that it will take longer than people think to turn it into reality. So while the idea for the flying car is taking off, literally, we still have a ways to go before we can achieve a real flying car.
