Remote Work and Hacked Email Servers

Many office workers started working remotely in the spring of 2020, many have continued to work remotely. While remote work is considered safer from a health stance, it's actually easier to catch a virus... a computer virus. "Tessian, found that 56% of senior IT technicians believe their employees have picked up bad cyber-security habits while working from home." (Debusmann, 2021) This trend isn't just the opinion of IT professionals, "Nearly two in five (39%) admitted that their cyber-security practices at home were less thorough than those practised in the office, with half admitting that this is a result of feeling less scrutinised by their IT departments now". (Debusmann, 2021) This is a scary development in the remote workplace that will be exploited. Remote work has made email an even more vital method of workplace communication and China knows it. The US, UK and EU have accused China of hacking microsoft exchange servers. These servers host the emails of many private companies and contain sensitive communication. Companies are now more vulnerable than ever to hacking and data breaches.
