July 4th Weekend Ransomware Attack

This 4th of July weekend produced one of the largest scale ransomware attacks ever. The REvil cyber gang targeted software company Kaseya. The weekend was undoubtedly chosen because it's a holiday and IT departments typically run thin. Kaseya provides network management software to hundreds of companies and all were compromised as a result of the attack. Federal authorities and security professionals are still investigating the incident. It is theorized that REvil will makes millions of dollars on this very bold, sweeping attack. REvil has made it clear that ransomware attacks are becoming a new pandemic or sorts. This supply chain attack was carried out by compromising a trusted supplier (Kaseya) and infecting all the companies that consumed the suppliers product (Kaseya software customers).
