A team of students of the student-driven non-profit organization, Mission InspirEd, organized an international hackathon event known as the “InpirEd Hacks.” This is event is organized by students from Bellevue, and their objective is to help students ages 10 to 18 synthesize their creativity and coding skills to produce a product that could benefit their school systems and communities.
This event attracted international interest, as individuals and teams from within the United States, Vietnam, and India registered for it. Participants of the event have about 3 days to finish their project. They will start at 10 a.m. on the first day and have until 6 p.m on the third day to submit their project. The winners will be announced by July 4th, 2021.
Subramanian, a sophomore at Newport High School in Bellevue said that “students should feel more comfortable with knowing and using coding for projects and everyday life applications,” as programming becomes more proliferate in our society. To him, coding helped him learn how youths can use their hands to collaborate with one another in order to achieve something bigger.
This hackathon will not only help students develop their coding skills but also help them connect with their peers from around the globe. The event also contains a series of live workshops with working professionals in data science, machine learning, educational technology, game design, and virtual and augmented reality. These resources make the event not only fun to compete in, but also help its participants gain more experience in cooperation, which will be an important skill in the future.
