This semester I will be writing about the culture of buying and reselling on the internet. Generally, this is not an issue, but when items are bought and sold at a higher price, it creates a problem. Especially if the product is meant to be a form of assistive technology, health necessities, or is useful for a specific community. This practice is generally known as scalping, and although the action has predated modern technology, there are new ways in which scalping has evolved with technology. Time and time again, items have been sold out and resold, generally with the use of bots, without allowing the public to buy the product from the original seller.
