Escape from Tarkov 12.11 Patch Notes Summary

On Wednesday the 30th of June Escape from Tarkov had its release of the new patch 12.11 and with it came a wipe, bringing all player progression back down to day 1. Major gameplay elements have been brought to Tarkov with this wipe, bringing a preview of how the game is intended to be played in its final release. The flea market has been pushed to level 20, this will take a long time for players to reach, slowing the economy down and bringing it closer to the vision the devs have for the game. Another impactful change is scav karma, the addition attempts to force the player to act more in the intended role of a scav by punishing the killing of another scav or scav boss while playing as a scav and rewarding actions like protecting scav bosses or using the joint scav and PMC extracts. A benefit high scav karma is a higher tier with the fence trader, allowing you to buy uninsured gear lost in raid, as well as better scav gear, scav bosses being friendly, and AI scavs willing to listen to your orders.

As for other additions, Factory has received an expansion nearly doubling its size and bring a new boss, Tagilla, who is heavily armored and will attempt to fight you with a sledgehammer. Firearms, especially captured from scavs have chances to misfire based on their durability. Ammunition and weapon modifications like suppressors can lead to faster wear on the gun, increasing the odds of a weapon malfunction. With this change comes a new skill, weapon maintenance, which when increased improves you characters ability to repair and maintain a firearm. Optics have also been reworked, making them more in line with their real world variants, this means some optics will have better or worse scope shadow (eye relief) and dot sights will have sharper or blurrier reticules.
