It hasn't even been a month since the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack and we see the world largest meat processor attacked. JBS is a Brazilian company, whose US branch processes a fifth of the beef, chicken and pork in the country. While this is a very disturbing target, JBS's IT professionals were prepared. JBS notified authorities quickly and had encrypted backups for their networks JBS lost less than a day of productivity and ensured the stability of the meat supply line. The good outcome of JBS's situation should not ease the public's mind, your food is still under attack. John Hultquist, the head of intelligence analysis at the cybersecurity firm FireEye, is concerned. In an interview with NPR, Hultquist said "The problem has been spiraling out of control, we're already deep into a vicious cycle." If the top cybersecurity analyst says we're in for some rough seas then you better believe him.
