We all value our health and expect to receive the best available when we need it. What if, all of a sudden, doctors and nurses couldn't access your medical records or give treatment orders? The Irish health service recently suffered a ransomware attack that made that "what if" a reality. A cybergang known as Conti confirmed that it attacked the Irish health service and demanded a 20 million dollar payment to restore services. Miraculously, after refusing to pay up, the Irish health service was given the tools to restore their system by Conti. While unusual, this is not a case of a gang that had a change of heart. The FBI reports that Conti is continuing its assault on healthcare providers here in the United States. This is clearly not the last you will hear of the Conti gang.
